The Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council released this statement on the passage of an historic $1.88 billion bonding bill at the Minnesota Legislature.
“Thanks to the leadership of Governor Walz, Speaker Hortman, Majority Leader Gazelka, Minority Leader Kent, and the 164 Minnesota legislators who recognize the importance of investing in Minnesota, we can now jump-start the state’s economy and keep Minnesota construction workers working, ” said Jessica Looman, Executive Director of the State Council.
Building Trades unions, construction contractors, architects, engineers, cities, counties, and many other partners came together to advocate for the largest bonding bill in Minnesota history that funds projects across the state. The historic, bi-partisan bill will invest $1.88 billion in state infrastructure construction, maintenance and repair.
“This bonding investment is necessary for our communities, workers and our economy,” said Looman. “Construction workers across the state are breathing a little easier today, knowing that there will be jobs coming so they can keep working to provide for themselves and their families.”
