Since joining the plumbers Local 34 as an apprentice, Haley feels more self-confident. “I was nervous about getting into the trades, but I told myself that I can do this, and now I have more confidence in myself. Other women should know they can do this, they belong here,” Haley said.
“I like to be active, to work with my hands and to try new things. Being a part of the plumber’s union is a great way to provide for your family. My daughter loves construction sites and she is so excited when I show her pipes and what I do.”
“My favorite project so far was building a plumbing project for a hospital in Duluth. There will always be a need for plumbers. There is job security and great benefits. I work for a great company and I love my job.”
