St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council praised Governor Tim Walz’s Local Jobs and Projects Plan – a $2.7 billion spending proposal that was announced earlier today. The Governor’s support for a significant bonding bill signals his commitment to the tremendous need for asset preservation, new infrastructure and Minnesota jobs.
“We thank Governor Walz, Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan and staff for their leadership on this bonding proposal and their commitment to creating good jobs for our hard-working members. The Local Jobs and Projects Plan gives us an opportunity to truly address much needed capital investments in Minnesota,” said Tom Dicklich, Executive Director of the Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council.
The plan outlined by the Governor today will help leverage federal dollars from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill for statewide projects for years to come. The passage of the Local Jobs and Projects act will provide an opportunity to create a solid pipeline of projects that can sustain the construction industry and the jobs it provides.
Again, we thank Governor Walz and his team for putting forward this plan and urge all lawmakers to work together to make these needed investments in the jobs and infrastructure that Minnesota deserves.
